Drat, that pea green shag carpet forever haunts me... i'm even worried that in another 20 years time all i'll remember about my friendship with red is that darned carpet. and honest to goodness, I can't even remember how that whole thing started (what a scar on the memory). lol yes, it is "the green and the black" in here but we can certainly do the red and the black for 11/21 or cruella black and the white (which is oh so in vogue currently, though i never got around to dying one half of my head white, bryson). And honestly, any POEM is still more fun than YE (year end) parties at work. Does anyone else share my dread at those or am i the only YE grinch who protests against theme-dressing with colleagues around, and makes up excuses a month in advance to leave early?

Never. Ever. Under estimate the power of pea green shag carpeting... It's reach encompasses both time and space! To know it is to be one with it and thus with all things... Nirvana indeed. Ya know, I'm *really* trying to remember how that whole thing got started... and well... I guess many a brain cell has perished through the years because I have no idea! lol! The origin might be lost to the ages... I'm so sorry. Oh the tragedy. PS - hey guys - guess what? I'm engaged!!

Thanks! When? Yikes - we're gonna shoot for either the spring or the fall, this is Texas so - any other time for an outdoor anything isn't the best idea. He wants the spring time - because, ya know, it's no big deal to toss a wedding together, why wait? I want the fall - because, ya know, it can be a big friggin' deal to toss a wedding together! It's already making my OCD go off like crazy even with keeping it small and laid back! Lol!! Married folk - got any words of wisdom?

AAAH! (Schwaaa, even!) I am SO excited for you and Mike! (I am even overusing exclamation marks!) Congratulations!!! How can you leave out the most important detail - the nature of the proposal? tell us more while i hang up some lights in this place for 11/21 I am deeply concerned you will do something as unstylish as a pea-green shag carpet theme for your wedding, so let me rather point you to this lovely website: bajanwed.com/x-files-wedding-inspiration/

How did it all happen? Well, first off - it was a total shock. It's not been something that we've really talked about - even after 6 yrs together. We were at my parents' house for a family BBQ, we were in the backyard by ourselves with our child substitute puppy dog, Xander, and he knelt down and started talked to him, "hey pup, what have you got on you?" Nothing out of the ordinary. I looked over his shoulder and he was pretending something was caught in Xander's hair... The ring was upside down so I thought it was a key ring or something mundane of the sort. Then he looked up, from bended knee, and asked... And still thinking it was a key chain or something I laughed and said, "yeah, right!" (Lol) then he handed it to me and asked again... Well, then the shock set in! It was lots of "oh sh*t - really?!" ...it was hilarious. So, the fall family BBQ turned into an engagement party - it was perfect as most of my immediate family was soon to arrive, he couldn't have planned it better. I think I'll keep him.

Oh and don't worry - no xfiles themed wedding, no shag carpet... Definitley leaning towards a scottish-Druid theme: kilts, simple dress, hand fasting. We're renaissance faire folk, so definitley something out if the ordinary, nature / Celtic based. We'll see!
