Maybe it's 10/13 on the calendar or 11:21 on the clock. Maybe you read it's the 20th anniversary of The X-Files. Maybe you were surfing channels and you came across Fight the Future (which was, I thought, the last really great old episode). Whatever the reason you remembered OEM, and you googled around for it, and you found this page, welcome. This is not the Forum as it was in the old days (but nothing could replace that time, could it?). It's a small patch to recognise home. OEM was a great home, much loved, much frequented, much celebrated, much adored, much envied, much fought for, much cherished. It was our home, and all these years later, even though The X-Files is not our life anymore and we've had to move on, it didn't seem right that on a websearch, only one reference to it remains - www.oocities.org/area51/lair/9774/xfiles/Xgd1.htmlSo this is an effort for OEM not to fade into darkness. Leave a note here, with your name, your OEM name and number (surely you can't have forgotten?) and if you want, your email address. Tell us what you did after you left OEM, and what brought you here. Always end your posts with a quotation. Not everything dies. Fatima, FM OEM#115, TFOMIHTWAFTJOTOEM. I grew up and became a doctor like Scully; I remain a believer, like Mulder, in the promise of discovering the unknown - like cures. I have a dusty sealed box of XF tapes somewhere, unwatched for years and considering VCRs are a thing of the past, may never be watched again, but I can't seem to throw it out. MULDER: ...at times I almost dream I, too, have spent a life the sages' way, And tread once more familiar paths. Perchance I perished in an arrogant self-reliance Ages ago; and in that act, a prayer For one more chance went up so earnest, so Instinct with better light let in by death, That life was blotted out-not so completely But scattered wrecks enough of it remain, Dim memories, as now, when once more seems The goal in sight again... Oh my darling OEM family, it really is good to be home. I still too this day always get a smile on my face when I see 10:13 on the clock (or 11:08 haha). When I heard the announcement that there was going to be a 20th (!!) anniversary panel at the SDCC for XFiles, I started feeling twinges of homesickness. A show that I swore I wanted nothing to do with brought me my first online family, taught me how to type (thanks IRC chats), and led me to my best friend (now hubby).
I will have to come back and update on myself later.

Misty you never told us you swore you would have nothing to do with TXF. Hehe, how come? Looking forward to your updates. Purple, I know your number is in the nineties. 97, 98, something like that. I have visions of Buggie chiding me for not being more responsible by keeping a printout of these kinds of things Thanks for the bday wishes - similarly I forgot to email you on yours in September this year. Was it a good birthday? The busy nature of every single day overwhelms me sometimes and the important things slip by. It's like we're all running a race: the world wasn't like this 20 years ago. I like this place to escape to though [Grumbles, though I wish it were easier to use, like our old forum. and i think my posts are coming out as "admin" - have to see how to change that...] FM "Home". i'm quoting an episode title. Anyway, you all know me, and I'm almost crying, seeing how this reunion thing is shaping up...
FM - I remember what your title stands for: The First Official Member I Had To Wait At Forever To Join Onto The OEM...
I never had such a long and illustrious title... Mainly because I was OEM#3... Since Buggie was Prez and Simonfeld was VicePrez, I was simply TFOMOTOEM: The First Official Member Of The OEM... Also I was DAND=?=

Luna, 98 sounds right to me, though I'm surprised I still remember mine. I was trying to remember my Tooms one *lol* Soooo, yes I originally had zero interest in XF. Why? I was (and still am) a big sci-fi fan and there were lots of alien-themed movies that I loved, until... until "Fire in the Sky". If you have seen it, you'll know why I was suddenly terrified of anything to do with aliens. But of course, I had girlfriends in high school that were into the show, and talked about it. I still swore I wanted nothing to do with the show, but one fateful sleepover night at a friend's house they were gathered around the tv watching the show. It happened to be Scully's abduction. I was kinda sucked in, and had no clue what was going on. I kept asking questions, and got shushed. Someone took pity on my and loaned me their vhs copies and I was hooked. This of course was also the time of AOL and I found myself in AOL chat rooms, met a few people who then talked me into IRC, which then led me over to the official fan forums and the rest is as they say, history Yes the good ol days when Friday night was awesome. I'd watch X-files and later watch MST3000 followed by Space Ghost Coast to Coast. My inner geek loved those nights. I don't know if anyone else uses Pinterest, but I found myself creating an XF board a few months back (and yes, I still call myself a 'shipper - MSR forever! *g*). I've really enjoyed watching the various interviews this year with DD and GA (I hope I look that great at her age as she does). I really kept hoping there would be some announcement for 10-13, but I guess we'll see. Apparently there's a "series 10" in comic book form. I haven't seen it. Anyone else? I found an official (?) site that mentioned the co that has the rights to the 'series 10" is doing a crossover in 2014. Get this, TLG are sending MS out to investigate/debunk Ghostbusters, TMNT, and Transformers! Crazy. Though I do admit I would love to see Scully getting hit on by Venkman, or maybe she'll really hit it off with Egon. Not sure I see MS eating pizza with turtles though, or hanging out with Optimus Prime. ~Keri "MM-OEM#47" "Good People.Good Food"

I'm so excited! This is fantastic!! I was pregnant with Maggie (who is now 16) when I would go online and post on a forum with friends about this crazy thing we all had in common, The X-Files.
While I remember so many things about you all and our interesting times, I can't remember my OEM number, or my OEM acronym, (FirstOfficialMember of the North perhaps?) or my other club affiliations! I'm very saddened by this and extremely embarrassed. I'm sure FM has all of our numbers saved somewhere in a top secret facility.
For the 20th Anniversary of TXF, my kids wanted to watch the show. So we all sat down and watched the first two episodes. They loved them! It was so fun watching the show again with a new generation and seeing it through fresh eyes. And let's face it, it's in their DNA to love TXF.
So what have I been up to for the past decade? I've been having children. No. Seriously. Hubby and I have 5 now. Riley (Fiji Mermaid) is about to turn 21, Maggie is 16, Emily is almost 15, Tim is 13 and Xander is 8. Yes. I know. I surprise myself even.
Thank goodness for Facebook! I've been about to find some of you there, and it's been wonderful. But having a forum... this forum, is THE BEST! It's so great to be with you all again!

Wow. Surreal doesn't even begin to describe the fact I'm sitting here composing an OEM post. Too cool. I admittingly have been feeling the nostalgia of late... It was the comic con panel... No, wait - it was the comic book... No, it was the anniversary. Yeah. 20 yrs... Are you friggin kidding me? I stopped watching the show after season 7 - I lost heart or it did. I got caught up years later (yeesh... That alone was about 10 yrs ago.) and believe it or not - I'm actually in the middle of rewatching the whole thing nowadays. The boyfriend had only ever seen the occasional episodes way back when and it was just that time in our relationship to come to peace and repair such things. We're in the 5th season, the show at the height of its powers... And I find myself back posting at OEM. Home indeed. Surreal, but in the best of ways. I find my heart very full as I type this. In fact I haven't been able to wipe the stupid grin off my face all evening.

Oh XPN and Red - it's so good to see some familiar faces. I agree - yea for Facebook, but this is home. Peter asked me what I was smiling about Sunday when I jumped over here. As I said, OEM really was my first online family. Lots has happened over the past 20 years. Finished high school, went to college, moved to UT, got married, finished 2+ years of school, got pregnant, lost a few babies, worked as a vet tech, had Parker (9), had issues having more kids, quit working, started another job, had Benny (5 1/2), had Belle (3), lost a job, and finally found another job. Ben started Kindergarden, Parker is in 4th grade, so during the daytime Belle and I hang out. My work schedule is all over the place (retail). I help out with the cub scouts. I still love to cook/bake. Still love animals (we have 6 hens, 2 cats, a rat and guinea pig). Love to read - that's my down-time. There's my condensed update ~Keri aka MM OEM #47 "If there's an ice tea in that bag, it could be love." "Must be fate Mulder. Root beer"

Oh, I should probably do one of those update posts...
Well, in June 2009 I had been at my then current job for 8½ years, and needed to move on... I quit my job without really having another... About a month before I quit I had started working at the local postoffice again - my third tenure there, but only Saturdays... When I didn't get another fulltime job right away I took more work at the postoffice, and spent 2½ years working more or less fulltime at the mail - except for 3½ critical months... I was in a serious carcrash, and broke my left hip, spent 16 days in the hospital, and the rest resting at home... January 1st 2011 I went back to working with kids, this time aged 0-4... Lovely little critters... I still have that job...
Haven't watched much XF for quite a few years, but lots of other movies and TV shows, and still enjoy seeing GA or DD in the occasional movie... Still a big fan of Shu-Bi-Dua, Iron Maiden, and James Bond... Recently picked up my love for Duran Duran as well, and for the last year or so I haven't read much that wasn't about zombies... I have become a zombie fanatic, and The Walking Dead is probably my current favourite show, though nothing will ever compare to Twin Peaks...

Reading about everyone's lives in the past 10-20 years just makes me emotional <3 Like what FM said, sometimes life feels like a race, and we're all rushing to get somewhere (where, really?). But our online personas in OEM are still the same. I was so excited to see all of your usernames! For me, I still live in the Philippines, though I almost moved to the States for a guy -- got the visa and everything. But we broke up, and it was for the best, so I'm here and happy to be home. I'm a game designer now, though work isn't my real passion anymore. Last year I got into krav maga and now it's what I want to do for the rest of my life. LOL! I'm Practitioner Level 2 and still moving up the "ladder". (I still remember Scully kicking ass in that virtual reality episode -- was it Kill Switch? Though I think it was all those years of watching Alias and NCIS that got me into it.) Like Lady Red, I didn't finish watching TXF I really should. But first season is still the best! ~Purple TFOCPOTOEM #98 (98 feels right!) "I was drugged!"

Krav Maga - cool! I have a friend who got into that for weight loss. Holy cow I couldn't believe how fit she got (not to mention tough!). She now teaches that and Boot Camp. It's become the latest fitness trend around here (well at least in Utah). You've got my admiration, you really have to go through a lot to become a trainer. haha, I remember that part when Mulder was drugged out (?) and Scully does a roundhouse kick to the nurse, or something like that. ~Keri MM OEM #47 "Sure. I never finished watching TXF either. But now that all seasons are on Netflix, I suppose I really should! It just wasn't the same without David and then Gillian.
Ew. I'm typing th is on my phone and that feels so wrong! It wrecks havoc with all things nostalgia!

Hmmm, I too dropped out... I stopped watching shortly after Robert Patrick entered the series... I should watch the rest, I suppose, but for some reason I can't watch TV series on Netflix... I mean, I can, but it just feels wrong... I don't know why that is, I have no problem watching movies on NF...
(Those who are friends with me on FB already saw that I *did* see Fido, as XPN asked - now the rest of you know as well...)
Oh, and for those who don't know we should probably mention that Marita Covarrubias (or the actress inside her) is also starring on The Walking Dead...

I'll give this update thing a try too... In my OEM days, I was in college and worked for some time at a horse race track in the Austin area - after leaving there in 2007 I began working in the service department at a pool company. It was a dandy little job but most notably I met my forever guy there. A fellow hobbit, geek, gamer & spiritual compatriot - Mike and I are trying to carve out our little place in the world. Kids aren't really in the 'plan' - we prefer the 4 legged kind. Our little pooch, Xander, rocks his role as child substitute very well. Job wise - eh, who cares? lol... I've continued to work in the swimming pool industry until the beginning of this year when I started working at a concrete resurfacing company at which Mike is a salesman (I'm office chick). We moved for said company from Austin to San Antonio in February and its been ok for the most part - don't know if I'd make the same choice given a time machine or something, but we're here now and lately it's been all about keeping one's chin up and trying to live in the moment. Hobbies, obsessions... Mike and I are into brewing our own beers, we've been at it about 2 yrs now. It's a lot of work but talk about great rewards! Let's see, what else... Are tattoos a hobby? Recently completed a half sleeve on my left arm of a Phoenix with the deathly hallows... Yeah, the Harry Potter obsession is alive and well. Some things change, some things stay the same. In other nerd news, Mike and I have recently taken began playing Magic The Gathering - a highly addictive and vast card game... It's been a lot of fun and we watch a lot less TV, which is always a good thing no matter how awesome it is. Speaking of TV... Bryson, gotta agree with you on The Walking Dead. It's usually about half way through an episode that I realize that every muscle in my body is tensed... Crazy. But I have to say, American Horror Story trumps it - off the wall, bat-sh*t crazy. Love it. I also harbor an unhealthy Downton Abbey obsession... That friggin' show gets on my last nerve... In a wonderful 1920s structured British society kinda way. It's like crack for Anglo-philes. Pathetic. Can't not mention the elephant in the room of current TV shows: Game of Thrones. Oh. Hell. Yes. It speaks for itself, small screen or big screen - there are few things of higher quality. In my opinion. the books ain't too shabby either. As for good old x-files... The last couple of season are great. Don't be scared. When I finally went back and watched them I wasn't as emotionally connected and was able to let them be what they are. Season 8 should have ended it - that last scene?! Come on - that was THE end. So lovely. Season 9 is just x-files: the next generation. Would have been better as a spin off years later. Still worth the watch... But yeah, definitely no Twin Peaks! (Fellow David Lynch fans: Inland Empire. Weirdest thing ever put on film or weirdest thing ever put on film? Random poll. lol) Lady Red OEM #248 "Scully, should we be picking out china patterns or what?" I remembered this time.

American Horror Story - I've heard nothing but good things about that, but to my knowledge no Danish station has broadcast it yet... I did notice it's out on DVD here, though, so I ought to give it a shot next time I'm buying TV series... (Though I'm currently going through How I Met Your Mother - just finished season 3 about 35 minutes ago... )
Downton Abbey - heard lot of positive talk about that one as well, but I'm really doubting it would be my thing...
Game of Thrones - did you know one of the leading actors is Danish??? Nicolaj Coster-Waldau - so proud of him for becoming such a hit...
Inland Empire - Weird indeed... But, erhm, try MORE THINGS THAT HAPPENED (2007)... It's, well, not a sequel, not a prequel, but sort of an expansion on Inland Empire... And DAMN, that is be far weirder than anything else I've seen by him... CPH:PIX (Copenhagen Pix, the Danish film festival) showed it this year as part of a series called "Reworked" with acclaimed directors going back to earlier material with fresh eyes... (There was a few other Twin Peaks related film on the program this year, those I remember are Jennifer Lynch's horrifying CHAINED, and Ramin Bahrani's AT ANY PRICE with Heather Graham in a small part...)
